A FACT can be checked and proven true. An OPINION is what someone thinks or feels — it can't be proven right or wrong. Non-fiction gives facts, poetry often uses rhyme and rhythm, and a play script is written in dialogue with stage directions.

“Fact: 'The Great Wall of China is over 13,000 miles long.' Opinion: 'The Great Wall of China is the most amazing place in the world.'”

The first sentence can be checked and proven true or false — a fact. The second sentence is what someone personally believes — an opinion, since 'most amazing' isn't something everyone would agree on.
