💡Understand

Every story has a CHARACTER (who it's about) and a SETTING (where it happens). Stories also usually have a BEGINNING (where we meet the character), a MIDDLE (where something happens or a problem occurs), and an END (where it's solved). Poetry is a different kind of writing — it often uses rhyme and sounds different from a story.

“Once, in a snowy forest, a young fox named Pip got lost. After searching all day, Pip finally found his way home as the sun set.”

Character: Pip the fox. Setting: a snowy forest. Beginning: Pip gets lost. Middle: he searches. End: he finds his way home.
