EDITING means reading your writing again and making it BETTER — maybe adding more detail or a more interesting word. PROOFREADING means checking for MISTAKES — like missing capital letters, full stops, or spelling errors.

“Draft: 'the dog was big it ran fast' → Fixed: 'The big dog ran fast.'”

Proofreading fixed the missing capital letter and full stop. Editing also combined the two short, choppy sentences into one smoother sentence.
