Reading fluency

Read simple sentences smoothly, with good expression, and get better every time you read them again.

💡Understand

Fluent reading means reading smoothly, not too slow and not too fast, like you're really talking. When we read a question, our voice should go up at the end. When something is exciting, our voice can show it!

“"Is that a dog?" she asked.”

Because this sentence has a question mark, we read it with our voice going UP at the end — just like when we ask a real question out loud.

💡 The question mark tells us to read it like we're really asking.

💡 The exclamation mark tells us this is exciting, so we read it with energy.

The sun is warm.

💡 This is just a normal telling sentence, so we read it in a calm, everyday voice.
